40-45 minutes. We begin with reading, writing, or math. Just like 1st, they need to do these in the morning. We do literature circles most of the time, unless there is an interesting story in the basal. You still have to model, model,, model everything. Just remember, don't do anything the students can do. They are eager to help. They don't mind telling on one another. Last year I was given the choice of staying in third or going to first. I remained in third.
