I, too, have (had) this problem with one of my Pre-K students. I finally found something that works. She loves "free play", so I gave everyone in my class 6 beads on a piece of yarn that is knotted at one end -- square beads so they don't come off as easily. At the end of the day they can have "free play" if they still have one bead on their string. So far this is working. Next year I will start off with 6 beads and reduce it to four at the middle of the year. All of the boys and girls seem to enjoy this "activity" and usually everyone gets "free play". My problem child has only missed it twice since the beginning of the year. No more talking without raising her hand and no more interruptions. HURRAY!
