Not alone

I am glad to know it is not just me dealing with this. It really gripes me that this parent will leave this child home alone after school where she could burn down the house and everything in it but doesn't want it to be the child's responsibility to turn in a paper. I don't raise 'em, I just teach 'em. When you give no consequences or punishment to the child, why would they do the work?
