i think i have the twin of your student! only mine is a boy. the same exact things as you said happen with my class (also 6th grade). we meet with the mother and she promises to get onto him and make him do stuff at home. so maybe he does or maybe he doensn't. either way, it DOES NOT get turned into my homework tray the next day. somehow i get blamed for it though? since when is it my responsiblility to turn in a student's homework? even after several reminders, he says "oh yeah, i'll give it to you" and NEVER DOES!!!!! haha. lordy, you could keep me on this topic forever. but i'd rather just count down the weeks i have left with this child and his mother.
