Following directions/food

I am doing the same thing right now with following directions and food. (Houghton Mifflin?)
I would also love some new ideas. Last year, I had the kids bring in favorite family recipes to make a cookbook for Mother's Day. We shared the recipes first and discussed why the steps have to be followed in order. I read some of them out loud all jumbled up and we tried to figure out what would happen to the recipe.
