Book Reports
By Jamie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,

My students do one to two book reports per week. Every night my first graders take home some leveled readers, and on the night that we have a book report for homework, the student picks out one book and completes the
book report. Right now the book report that I am using in one page. At the top the student writes the name of the book. Then the student has to name the characters in the book. Then the student writes 3 complete sentences about the book. Finally, the student has to draw and color a picture of their favorite part. Other book report forms that I use have the student write a sentence and
picture about the beginning, middle, and end. Or, the student has to write a review of the book, draw and write about their favorite part, or create a new ook cover for the story. I try and stick to the same format for a few weeks in a row, otherwise the students get confused as to what they should. My advice to you would be to have the students answering questions about different components of the book; title, beginning, middle, end, characters, setting, etc. I hope this helps.
