I agree with the posters that work over break seems unfair but. . . there is a fun acitivity that children could do over break with little to no preparation. Ask them to make a memory bag over their break. They could put| in items to remind them of activities they participated in. I think the kids would get a kick out of it. For instance, if you had a child that stayed home they could put in items they played with, a McDonald's ketchup packet if they went out to eat, something that reminds them of their visit to grandma's (a leaf from her yard maybe). | really enjoyed it. I think if you approach it right it could be a big hit. Send home a letter to parents outlining the project. Tell them this is supposed to be fun, not work, and it is the child's responsibility to collect the mementos. Ask them to imagine how much fun it will be to return from break and share all those wonderful memories.
