I use it as an opener in the morning...it's on the board when the kids get in....they are expected to get out their DOL notebooks and begin....we edit it together during snack time after morning recess.One thing | that I do is make DOL folders. Mine are all yellow this year. I have the kids fold construction paper in half....put DOL and their names on the front and draw a picture. I then laminate them. I put about 20 pieces of paper inside and staple the book together. That way I can tell at a quick glance if the entire class has their DOL folders out and are working on them. It's also great | |
to have to show at conference time....parents can take a look at their skills....I have also in the past made copies of the weeks DOL sentences and given it as a test on Friday and that counted as a portion of their grade. I did this in 4th grade...
