paragraph

Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach first grade. I just attended a workshop this year on 4 square writing. It is an excellent and easy approach to paragraph writing. To begin you take a piece of paper and divide it into 4 quadrents. In the middle draw a rectangle with a star inside. This is where the title or subject goes. Then the 4 quads on the paper are numbered 1-4. In squres 1-3 you write describing sentences, seuence, etc. In square 4 write a feeling sentence. In the beginning I gave them sentence starters. When we transfer these ideas on paper, show them the title goes on top (look for the star). Then copy the sentences from the boxes 1-4. It takes practice, but I'll never use anything else for writing! Look into this idea. It's great!
