Welcome to the club! You are now an official member. I and every Kindergarten teacher I know have had to face this same type of parent. In our state, we have specific skills which kindergarteners have to master before being considered for promotion to 1st grade. Then we look at the overall child in regard to emotional and social development. I also teach an academic kindergarten curriculum and so I do various assessments throughout each quarter to determine placement. You probably have a gut feeling about this student. My advice is look at your skills assessment and if this student doesn't meet your minimum requirements, he/she should be retained. Good Luck. (-:
