Muggie Maggie

Sometimes when I'm reading I pick one or two high frequency words or other vocab from the book and print the word on a card. Every time the child with the card hears that word they have to hold up the card. Or I buy/borrow multiple copies of the book and I get the kids who aren't paying attention to read along. I vary who gets to use the book and we make it into a big deal so they all want to. For Maggie Muggie specifically whenever there is a cursive writing section I write it (in cursive)on the board and the kids are soooo busy trying to read what I'm writing that they can't help but pay attention!
