Novel Problems....
By Jodi

Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach 5th grade and all I do is novels. I teach in Texas so I feel the pressure of curriculum. I got around that by integrating all my Lang/Arts standards with my Social Studies curriculum. (Standards being summarizing, fact/opinion, predicting, etc) That way I can show how I am specifically meeting those needs and it leaves me open to do more creative fun thing with the novels. If you are interesting in the specifics of how I teach a novel let me know and I'll go into more detail there, but I think you'll find if you integrate those Lang/Arts standards through Social Studies you'll be less stressed
