How about doing some webquests? That will integrate reading, technology and SS. There is a terrifice site at San Diego state University - just type in "San Diego State University webquests" into google and should pull it up for you. We just completed one on ancient Egypt and that was for reading. OR How about reading a novel that concerns we topic that you are studying and doing Lit Circles? They really require upper level thinking and isn't that the main goal of testing??
Let us know how it turns out.
