morning time By Susan S.

Each morning my children (5th graders) receive "bellringer" work. They know to unpack and begin working immediately. I have handwriting sheets, math drills, journals, and occasionally other activities (language arts sheets).| They also have this time for SSR when they finish. I like their mornings to start off quietly. I check their bellringers at the end of the week. Also, after 20 minutes I draw one student's name and bring them up to the front of the class for "quiz time". I ask 7 questions about things they should know (who is our president, vice-president, how many days in a year, 5 Great Lakes, | | planets, etc...) I ask 7 new ones everyday, but many are repeated after a few days. They look forward to this time and it's great for reinforcing anything.
