Quiet Quickly

In my class I clap a pattern and the class claps the pattern back. I usually have to do this twice to get everybody's attention. Also we use "Give ME 5". You hold up your open hand and students also hold up theirs and get quiet. It stands for quiet mouths, listening ears, feet on floor, bottoms in seats, and eyes on the teacher. One objective for each finger of your hand. I have a poster of a hand in my room that tells the students what to do when I put my hand up. It works pretty well.
