Pregnancy and Teaching
By Eileen

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello, I am currently in my 2nd year of teaching and pregnant with my first child due in May. I was also wishing to start a family when I was in your shoes, but quite honestly, if I had been pregnant this time last year,
I think it would have been very difficult. I am much more comfortable with the curriculum this year and feel I learned so much last year that has made this year much easier for me. I would agree with the others that maybe you should think about waiting till you finish your first full year. But, on the other hand, if you did become pregnant during your first year, I am sure you would find
a way to get thru it. I actually discussed this with my doctor before I got pregnant and she advised me to not worry about the job (easy for her to say) because you don't want to keep putting off having a family if you really want one. I guess I can only give you my experience, which is that I am starting to get very tired and when I come home from school, I don't always do a lot of school work. Last year I did tons at home at night. My energy level really isn't 100%. I am tired by 8:00 P.M. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best and please know that you are definitely not alone in your desires. It's a tough decision. Take care.
