This is a tough situation By Pam

Have a meeting with them immediately. Outline what you see as problems. Ask them for their input also. 3 years ago I had 5 aides and it was a horrible situation. I felt I had to be superwoman and make everything happen.| Maybe your aides don't feel they are being used to the best of their ability - I too used to just give them 1:1 duties to do. Unfortunately I left that position and have learned the hard way how to better manage my people. I too teach k-3 and have the same mix. I have 2 ladies and 1 is a 1:1 and yes some students do need this 1:1. That is great that you have things listed for them | | to do daily. When you have your meeting with them please document everything you go over with them, let your supervisor or someone else know your plan of action and see what they suggest too. Your aides need to know that you value them and that you are a TEAM. I am so fortunate this year to have 2 wonderful ladies. I too have had what you said done to me and I didn't address it didn't address it then finally started to address it and it was ignored then I let it build and build and build and finally I erupted and was not professional. I have also had people who are very relaxed about their work and that is hard too. I am a person that enjoys my job and takes it serious and know I am there for the children fortunately too the ladies I have now enjoy what they do and are go getters too. Good luck to you and do get some outside support. It is so hard to take on that by yourself even if you have another teacher that can coach you through it. Good luck friend and let us know how things are going.
