Emily - an update

Clip to ScrapBook
HI
I was at a district wide special ed meeting yesterday and in my last post I told you about the advocate that told the parent not to be nasty? Well that same advocate went with those same parents last month to our 5/6
school to talk about another of their children. the mom again was taking out her notebook and being nasty when our special ed teacher said Mom, I'd like you to take a look at what we've done this year so far, what progress your child has made so far and what we're projecting for the rest of the school year. The advocate was so impressed with all that had been done and how successful
the sped teacher and regular ed teacher had been with this child that she went to one of our state senators with the information and now that team of teachers is going to some special education forum in Washington DC in June to represent our district and state. So maybe your advocate will be great too. The key here was the teachers took in writtend documentation of all the services and accomodations they had provided thus far this year....good luck
