One of my favorite newly discovered books that I don't think I could read aloud (because it deals with death) but was awesome to read to myself was Missing May by Cynthia Rylant. Has anyone read that? Also Out of the Dust is good by Karen Hesse.Maniac Magee was really good too. I am on a mission to read as many Newbery Winners as I can. I have read quite a few and find they are usually pretty good.
