If you can't get anywhere with Mom, could you possibly try to find another teacher/parent in your building to serve as a mentor? Instead of sending books home, only to get lost, have the child do the work with this special person during school hours. That way the work gets done & you don't have to spend countless hours trying to retrieve your books & materials.
