Clip to ScrapBook
keep in mind that an advocate knows the letter of the law to a T.....you don't want to be at this IEP without your administrators...both principal and special ed.....

I have had IEP's with advocates that acted like pit
bulls and others that were very professional. So my one piece of advice is that you maintain your calm no matter what they say or how much it feels like they are attacking you. If you have to bite your tongue do it....don't let them get you to say something you really can't answer.....so if you don't know the answer defer to your sped director....

I have actually had one occasion when

the advocate said to the parent, are you listening to what they're saying? They are agreeing with you so you don't have to be so nasty to them! Isn't that a hoot?

Just go in prepared and you'll be fine.
