compare/contrast
By kristie

Clip to ScrapBook
I taught writing to fourth graders and one thing that I found helpful was to get their five senses involved in their writing. Use props or multi-media to allow them to "see or feel" the topic or ask them questions that make them think about the two objects compared. i.e. "Feel and smell the orange and the apple. What things are different about each? Use descriptive words in your writing to make the reader feel and "see" what you are feeling and seeing."
Also have them contrast two places by taking a virtual tour of the places on the internet.
