I have a couple of thousand books in my classroom. I organize them by genre. Each book has a different color star or dot depending on its genre. The shelves are also labeled. Two children each week act as lbrarians. They put the books on the correct shelf. I can usually find a book when I am looking for it. It is not a perfect system, but it works faily well.
