Reality Check
By Rusty

Clip to ScrapBook
I was a longterm sub for a year. It was a great experience for me. I learned the ropes of education. As a long term sub I made $110.00 a day. If I was doing regular substituting then I got $45.00 a day. I never expected
to get payed a lot of money. If anyone working in education at any level is expecting to get rich then they are a fool. Subs like it or not are second class citizens in our schools. They do it because it is a calling to them. Just like I teach because it is my calling. I am not working at the school that I longtermed at. Was I dissappointed that I could not get hired there? You
bet I was. But that is part of the facts of life in education these days. I am sorry that some of you feel the way you do, but you should have known what you were getting yourself into before you started. If you want to move from subbing to doing the best job in America teaching. Then go to school sub by day and consider that time as a sub as on the job training.
