sub pay By sonja mcnair

I am a long term sub. I am teaching an ESE class until a teacher who may or may not come, arrives. I have been lead to believe that I would receive a job at my school, since September. However, I found out about two weeks| ago that I am not going to be a teacher here, because I'm not certified yet, and this is a title one school. I am so discouraged about the whole thing. I am a strong sub and have total control over the classes that I teach. The students have been doing more work than when they did with their regular classroom teacher. She's been gone since the first of the year. I have been asked to sub | | in this position until whenever. I accepted it thinking I would be hired soon. Also, I have been working as a sub in the ESE Department since September. This school has been great as far as having work is concerned, but I am getting tired of coming to school with no benefits and low pay. I can't afford insurance for myself and I think its time for a career change all together. I wish that subs could get some types of benefits to help us out since we do so much for these schools. I don't want a thank you when the new teacher comes to teach this class. I am feeling kind of worn out and unappreciated. Since I am such a strong teacher, none of the administrators come to my room ever on a regular basis. I am beginning to think that they don't really care how things are going in my classroom. They are not keeping in touch with the needs of the students. I am doing it all as if I were the regular teacher. My assignment is up on Friday and I am seriously considering not returning to teach here. I don't want to feel like I am being used like this ever again. Sorry for the lengthy response.
