conf. questions

Clip to ScrapBook
here are some questions in no particular order. They're a little rough (I couldn't get to my list today so I'm doing this from memory)so feel free to edit.
What's the strongest or most exciting part of the piece?
Have
you shown (not told) by using descriptions and examples?
Have you told where, when , who, and why?
Have you described the scene and people with enough detail so the reader can see them?
Is there any part that might confuse the reader? How could you improve this?
Does this piece need conversation? Did people talk? Did you show this correctly?
What parts aren't needed?
Can you delete them? What is this piece really about? Do you stick to the topic? Are there any parts about something else?
Does your story have a beginning that grabs the readers attention?
Does my story have a beginning, middle and end?
Does the title fit the story?
Have you used any words too often?
Where could you use more description and details?

Again, there are a lot of directions you could lead the conference. This is just a sample. I usually just pick one or two areas to focus on with each student or piece so it is not too overwhelming.
