Meliss, I am with you! By Debbie

I also find parents "sticking up" for their kids in the most ridiculous situations, to be a huge stressor in my life. I recently had a boy in my grade two class, sneaking a treat at lunch time. When I saw him, I noticed| it was a box full of treats, obviously intended for the class party. He swore up and down that his mom sent them all for him and only told me they were for the class when I told him I could be calling home to check his story. He had eaten countless treats from the box, so there was not enough for everyone at party time. The next day, his mom had the nerve to bawl me out for upsetting | | her son and accusing him of eating more than his share of treats!! Now I understand a seven year old trying to get away with something, especially when candy is involved, but a parent defending lying and sneaking!? I just do not get it! And they will be the same parents bailing their children out of jail in the not too distant future, wringing their hands, wondering what went wrong (and probably blaming the school system!) I know I should not let such things eat away at me, but it just galls me!
