bipolar children question for you all
By Connie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,

I have had a few bipolar children in my class, including this year. They are perhaps the most frustrating type of child to work with because of the lack of consistency in behaviors.

Besides the heredity component,
another strong feature is hypersexuality. The vulgar words and sexual acting out is often seen in childhood onset bipolar disorder (COBPD). Also, some of these children "rapid cycle" meaning that the can go from depression to manic behavior many times each day.

I have a question for you all...what is the "he can't be in a regular classroom anymore" point? I think he's there

with the raging and incorigible behavior. The meds are totally out of control. I am a really patient person but it so affects the class, even though their reaction to him is exemplary. It so affects the other kids in different ways.

Connie
