In NC...

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Diane!
I live and work in Wilkes County, located in the foothills of North Carolina. I have taught in this system for the past eight years, and also was a student here for my entire K-12 years. I believe it to be a
wonderful place to work and raise children. We certainly cannot compete with a place such as Charlotte or Raleigh in terms of entertainment options for your children, but overall our system does have the "your at home" feel to it that I enjoy. I know the central office staff by name, don't hesitate to pick up the phone and call the superintendent if I have a concern, and have strong support
from the community. Our test scores are consistently high, largely in part to the fact that we do have strong support from parents. We have schools of varying sizes, and actually just built four new middle schools this past year. Just know that every system is going to have advantages and disadvantages, but I would certainly recommend our system if you're looking for a not so small "small-town" atmosphere. Let me know if you're interested in further information!

Good luck with your search!
Jennie
