saying the s word

I know how you feel. My first year of teaching I told a child to "shut up" without meaning to. He was just trying to be funny but was really annoying me. I meant to say "be quiet" but you know how it goes. I too apologized quickly. I felt terrible. Unfortunately most of my kids think nothing of someone telling them to shut-up because I have heard many of their parents tell them that and worse.
