Bi-polar child
By Mom

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a kindergarten teacher with a 5th grade son who is Bi-Polar and ADHD . . .whew!

I would ditto what everyone else has sad here and add just a few things.

The medication part is SO DIFFICULT . . .we have tried EVERYTHING
for the past year and FINALLY have found a combination that is VERY helpful. I am told this may very possible change. He has been on meds that work and then at some point in time in the future they STOP working. Talk about frustrating.

I of course do not know this boy, so I will speak to my experience with my son - His teacher is a Saint . .my son will at times attempt to

use his illness as an excuse for bad behaivor . . hodling him accountable is EXTREMELY important.

My son needs constant affrimation of good behavior and lots of cues when it appears as though he MAY be getting out of hand. If the teacher is sensitive and can see a pattern and can call his hand on it she had many times ward off an impending problem.

Should you wish to e-amil me directly I would be happy to discuss this further with you . . .

Best of luck . . .
