independent activities
By Danyelle

Clip to ScrapBook
www.childcareland.com has filefolder and opening activities that you can purchase on disc and print out and velcro. You would have to look and decide if they are age appropriate. They are mainly seasonal activities that
are matching activities. (letters, colors, color words, numbers, number words, number sets, & shapes) You can change the size of the pictures when printing them. For higher level skills we use Carson Dellosa file folder activities with velcro. They have books of games Pre K-5. For students with alot of fine motor difficulty, we enlarged the pieces and limited the number per folder.
TEACCH has a web site and they have examples of jigs that you can make for children with more limitations. (shoe box tasks, put in tasks, ect...) If you don't have a picture symbol computer program- Mayer Johnson's writing with symbols is great for making your own activities. It also has a section of the program that the students can use. Their website is www.mayer-johnson.com. Do you have a touch screen for your computer? That would help and they aren't too costly. Good luck. I hope something from this is helpful for you. Oh, I don't know if there is a Sam's Club near you, but they sell 15ft rolls of velcro for about $10. That was the cheapest I found, other than ordering in bulk.
