Another game-100's chart
By Jodi

Clip to ScrapBook
I thought of another game that my second grader's have been playing this year. Our math program is "Investigations" and the game comes from there-

You have copies of the 100's chart and the kids have a set of cards-these
come with the curriculum, but I suppose that you could use a deck of cards without the face cards. The kids have partners, with a 100's chart for each kid to record their game(these can be really small). The cards are delt into two piles, face down. The first person goes and takes the top card from each pile. They add these numbers up and color in the hundred's chart according to
their number. Then player two does the same thing. Player one goes again and takes the top card from each pile, adds the numbers up and then adds this number on to their last number. I had the opportunity to play this with one student today and I really got to see the value in it. It gets them more familiar with many concepts and we talked about jumping 10 and moving either forward or backward from there. It is a great game that reinforces many skills! Let me know if you have any questions-I hope this helps. The kids look forward to playing and they almost always ask if they can play again!
