report cards
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't think you should be afraid to bring up this subject with your fellow teachers or your principal. Just approach it like you just found this terrific early childhood report card and you believe it's better than what
you currently are using (which it is!). You can explain your reasoning to your principal and colleagues and ask them if you can give it a try. I would put my reasons in writing so I can keep them straight in my mind. Your thoughts about the added pressure from parents on the honor roll issue should be a major concern for the principal. Let's hope he/she can bend a bit and let you try
the newer report card. If you do use it, be sure to give feedback about how wonderful the new system is and how it has changed your students' and parents' outlook on early grades. Let's hope if you take the "professional" route you won't ruffle anyone's feathers too much. And remember "this is the way we've always done it" isn't a reason for keeping the old system. In fact, it's not a reason for doing ANYTHING!
