centers

Clip to ScrapBook
Check out Guided Reading by Fountas and Pinnell. There are suggestions for rotations and center board icons. Some of my centers include an ABC center (spelling or sight words - paint, stamps, bingo markers, glitter glue -
anything that they will use to write the words. They love it!), journals (easy or hard, up to you), independent reading (find easy books that they can be successful with), and word sorts (made up on computer, glued to file folder and laminate. Kids can use vis-a-vis pens to write on). Divided them up into teams and choose a team captain. This person will be in charge of finding materials,
cleaning up, answering simple questions about work. Make sure it is a dependable student, and explain that others will get a chance when they show you that they can participate in the centers correctly. Centers really can be fun, but training is the key. I hope all goes well for you.
