Hi there. Is this child in danger of failing for the year? If so, get mom in for a conference (inlcude the principal and/or guidance counselor). Has he been tested for SLD? It sounds like he does have attention span problems, difficulties retaining information, as well as a lack of motivation. His mother is probably one of those who does everything for him at home, so he falls behind when he is at school and takes responsibility. What grade do you teach again?
