getting kids to quiet down
By Meenal

Clip to ScrapBook
I recently read this idea and thought it sounded great. (Unfortunately, I can't use it because I teach in a "Pod" setting where 4 classes are in one big open room and noise is a problem.)
Get yourself a music box that you can wind up. Wind it up all the way and everytime the noise level goes up in your room, open the lid of the music box. The playing music will grab their attention. When they quiet down, close the lid. Explain that by the end of the week (or day) if there is any wind up music left, they will earn a marble in the jar or a treat or something.
Good luck! Hope this helps!
