Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 5th grade. My policies are in place from the very beginning... No name on paper gets minus 10 points; no heading-minus 10; didn't follow directions-minus 10. I'm very strict with this and I hardly ever have anyone
forget what to do after the first couple of weeks. If someone asks I tell them that I've already explained it to the class and they can ask a friend...they, too, get used to looking around to see what others are doing. At the beginning of the year, I do write steps on the board...or examples. I have, at times, brought the student who asked what they are supposed to do up to my desk
and have a special lesson with them. Sometimes it's long enough that they don't have time to finish in class and will have homework. Not many want to do that.
