Race to $1.00 / I have-who has?
By Traci

Clip to ScrapBook
Here are 2 games I have played in my classroom. The first is called RACE TO $1.00. It is played with a spinner that has the coin faces on it. Students take turns spinning & make a running tally of how much money they have.
They are constantly practicing adding 5, 10, 25, and 1. The first person to get to $1 is the winner.

The second game I play with my students is called "I have, Who Has?" A simple game card needs to be made, and then reproduced. It looks like this:

I Have

Who Has

Math problems and the answers to those problems are put onto the cards. They are programmed so the game

will start at 1 card and end at another. Here is an example:

I have 8, Who has 6 + 6 ?
The next person who's card says 12 will read his/hers. I have 12, who has 10 + 5? This continues until all the cards have been read. I have my students stand UP at the beginning of the game and sit down when they have read their card. That way we can see who has read their card.

I hope this helps! =)
