Vocabulary Project
By Stacy

Clip to ScrapBook
I was tired of giving the normal vocabulary list on Monday and quiz on Friday, so I have started vocabulary projects. I give the students a vocabualry list with definitions on it on Monday. We discuss them, and then the students choose 2 of those words. Their project is to master those 2 words. They can look for synonyms, antonyms, definions, part of speech, examples, research, history. It is really amazing what they come up with. They really go above and beyond. It is really awesome. When they ask me if they have enough information, my reply is, "Did you learn something about the word that you did not know before?" They seem to be getting more out of this than the normal vocab quiz.
