book orders By tia

i'm surprised that the one poster had a problem with bad checks. (i guess is shouldn't be, though.) i've been sending book orders out for 10 years and (to my knowledge) i've never sent out a bad check.i ask parents at | the beginning of the year (in writing) at our back-to-school parent meeting to please send in checks for book orders--since cash is a hassle, but that if checks aren't possible cash would be okay. there is currently a bit of shake up in my district with mismanagement of money and as a result, there have been new policies put in place when money is involved. my son's school (in my district) | | just sent out a note stating that no more cash may be sent in for book orders--checks or money orders only. (of course i knew why--but think it's strange that the students are still being asked to bring in loads of money--checks OR cash for their math-a-thon--maybe it's because that is supposed to bring in $15,000 for the school--seems weird)anyway, no edict has been passed down at my school regarding checks only for book orders--which is a good thing because we have 50% low income--and a lot of my students who order books are those poor kids--and they order the 95 cent books--and you know they scraped together those nickles and pennies! but i'm so glad they are interested in reading and willing to put their hard-earned money toward books!
