Leslie,

The room I'm in has about 30 students and about half are my spec ed students (mixture of LD, Mi, and ED). There are about 4 of these students who would be self-contained.

This is my second year to teach in this school, so most of the staff knows me very well. To make my problem even stranger though, one of the teachers who makes me feel invisible is a first year teacher!

I'm thinking of suggesting that I travel between the 5th grade rooms next year instead of trying to stay in one room all day. Maybe this will somehow help.

Does floating work for you? Are your other periods spent in a resource room?
