When I taught adverbs, I did a project called "My Favorite Bagged Lunch." I gave the students a brown paper lunch paper. I asked them to create their favorite lunch items from various art martials. Students made construction paper cookies, doritos, sandwiches, etc. On each item, the students wrote one adjective to describe the food. Then on the lunch bag, they wrote sentences with adverbs. Each sentence contained adverbs answering different questions (how, when and where) and modifying verbs, other adverbs and adjectives. The project came out really good, and the students loved it.
Another project we did was making adverb avenue. The students worked together to create an avenue filled with cars, houses, clouds, the sun, people, etc. On each item, the students wrote sentences with adverbs in them. They had to underline the adverbs and draw lines to what the adverb was modifying.
