organizing

Clip to ScrapBook
I used to have the same problem with my kids. We still rush around, but they are VERY organized and I expect them to be so (even if their teacher's desk looks like a tornado hit it by the end of the day!) Here's what I
do...
I set aside about 10 minutes each Friday for desk and binder cleaning. That is their time to make sure all papers are in appropriate folders, old papers are pitched or taken home, books are in right spot in desk or cubby, etc. They are methodical about this. Many of them are so organized daily, that they don't really need to utilize this time for cleaning, so they get free time.
I randomly select 2 or 3 names and check those desks and binders. Those students earn points to spend in the school incentive store.
(We spend a lot of time organizing at the beginning of the year with specific labels, folders, etc. I am also careful to tell them where papers are to be placed, so that they will be there when they go to look for them. It requires a time investment, but it really pays off!)
Good luck!
