Valentine Boxed

Every year I have my students make their own valentine boxes and we have a contest in the classroom. This is optional, but every student loves to participate. If the student brings in a box, they recieve an "award" which I make out of construction paper. Each award has a certain category on it. Some suggestions are "Most Comical" (box was decorated with cartoon characters), Smallest, Largest, Most Moveable, Most Lifelike, Most Realistic, ect.....
Last year I had a student make a mailbox that is now used by our kindergarten class when they do a unit on the post office. This activity really takes no time for me other than recruiting help for ideas to title the different categories to put on each award. Hope this helps. We sure have fun with this every year.
