Clip to ScrapBook
I've taught 16 years (in two different school districts) and have had 6 different principals. . .one was exceptional, 4 were "so-so" (including my current one), and 1 was HORRID (unfortunately, she was also my first! . .
. coincidentally, she was also a "micromanager", just as you mentioned.

My current principal is sort of "out-of-touch." We rarely if ever see him around the building; he prefers to stay in the main office complex. A lot of stuff goes on in the building because there isn't a whole lot of accountability. . .best example is one team's noon recess that's supposed to be from 12:10-12:30

but they stay outside until after 1:00 each day. Luckily, the majority of the staff are talented and hard-working. . .but there are a few that take liberties. Sort of a "when the cat is away, the mice shall play" scenario. Overall, I will have to say that I would rather have a principal that stays in the office over one that rules with an iron fist.
