I have recently implemented in my class a "What to do when I'm done" box. Each student has a hanging folder with their name on it in a file folder box. I make checklists of things for them to do such as reading Scholastic news and answering the ques. on the back, current event, making up a word search with their current spelling list, and even word searchs that correlate with subject related themes or holidays. The checklist even has sign in and out times for 15 mins. of silent free reading or computer time. It has been working well because they know exactly what to do when they are done.
