sight words
By Colleen

Clip to ScrapBook
I have found out the sight words are learned by using them in context. First graders have a hard time picturing these words in their minds so its hard because they have little meaning out of context. Words that are nouns and some verbs and color words are more easily learned because they can picture what they mean. The more they read the more they pick up on these little words. Have them read, read, read. I find that they can read these words in stories but on flash cards in isolation they are trouble. English is a tough language.
