"are all schools the same"
By substitute teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I am an inner city school teacher. I've taught in private school settings, on the primary level. Currently, for reasons of flexibility, I substitute teach within the toughest inner city district around. I see lots and lots
of schools. Everyone can tell you that they are all the same, and to some degree they are. However, each and every school possesses a different tone. Some schools reek of indifference, complacency and hopelessness. Others are full of life, color and expectations. They truly do vary in quality, and in the behavioral expectations of their students. These variations are due largely
to the powers that be within a particular school. Some individuals lead well, others don't. I say talk to people--lots of people, about the reputations of other schools in your area. Don't give up, just find the one that fits. I see lots of happy teachers in inner city settings. You can be one of them!!
