Here's a thought...After reading a small section of text, ask the student your question. Give the student a small, reusable, sticky arrow(found at office supply stores)and have him go back into to the text to find the answer and put the arrow on the part of the page where he found the answer. I use these for all kinds of things in my reading groups: pointing to tricky words, confusing parts, etc. I laminate a bookmark and give each child a few arrows for this type of thing. I hope this helps.
